WELCOME TO BASIS TUCSON
BASIS Tucson is the flagship BASIS school. We have the honorable distinction of being the original BASIS school, founded in 1998. Our curriculum and methodology are those on which all other BASIS schools are based.
BASIS Tucson K-4
We are pleased to announce that the BASIS Tucson campus is growing!
We have reached an agreement with our neighbors to purchase the property immediately adjacent to the existing BASIS school building on 2nd Street. This opportunity will enable us to have one BASIS Tucson K-6 campus this fall.

BASIS Tucson currently serves 5th, 6th and 7th grades. BASIS has always believed that children can succeed at great heights if we raise expectations and provide adequate support. It is in part because of this belief that we have decided to design and add a primary school curriculum to BASIS Tucson, introducing grades kindergarten through 4th grade for the 2013-2014 school year. As we have been working on this, we have also been thinking about our current curriculum and the students who are thriving in it. These conversations have resulted in an exciting new development for BASIS Tucson 6th graders: all BASIS Tucson 2013-2014 7th graders will be moving to a BASIS campus that includes an Upper as well as a Lower School. Your child will have a choice between the BASIS Tucson North and BASIS Oro Valley campuses. This will allow BASIS Tucson to enroll more students in the K-6 school.
The BASIS Tucson Lower School curriculum is the foundation that made possible the academic achievements of the Upper School (now BASIS Tucson North.) Our teachers, all experts in their content area, teach to mastery, ensuring that the students are ready for the next level. At these critical lower grades, students are not just taught content, but also the very necessary skills of organization, time management, and study habits.
The educational environment at BASIS Tucson is one of true scholarship. Students learn logic and rhetoric so that they can analyze problems and present solutions. They learn Latin in 5th and 6th grades, to build a foundation for the romance languages they may choose to learn in 7th and beyond, and to strengthen their scientific vocabulary. They learn to analyze texts, solve algebraic expressions, and identify chemical compositions. Students can challenge themselves in such classes as Mandarin, Creative Writing, Theater, and Kenpo.
Discussions in the hallways and at lunch are centered on intellectual topics, not because of any policy or requirement, but because the students are truly interested and have a passion for learning, dialogue, and the sharing of knowledge. We invite you and your child to come visit us, and see for yourself what makes BASIS Tucson the best choice for education in Southern Arizona.
